The Army uniforms of the late 80's were manufactured from a blend of polyester and wool. The buttons are constructed of brass and bear the emblem of the Army eagle. The uniform portrayed on this page is a dress uniform which soldiers had to purchase. This attire is employed for formal occassions, parades and similar activities. These uniforms were authorized for year round use.

(bottom left picture) The name tag was worn above the right top pocket. The lapels are used to display the "US" and Army emblems. In this particular sample the emblems have a light blue backing. A proficiency and a helicopter badge are located on the top left pocket of the jacket.

(bottom right picture) The top of the sleeve displays a "Ranger" patch followed by a 26th infantry division patch and a private patch.

A tag located on the inside of the jacket towards the collar. This tag contains various data about the uniform such as manufacturing dates, contract number, size, etc.

The overseas cap was manufactures with the same materials as the jacket.

This photograph shows the eagle pattern brass buttons. Buttons were sewn to the uniform.
