JOINT AVIATION EXERCISE AWARD - US AIR FORCE IN GERMANY This is a medal that was given to pilots who participated in joint flight exercise maneuvers, between US Air Force and German Air Force. it is a common practice for armed forces who perform joint maneuvers to give each other commemorative awards.

The sample featured here was issued in the 1970's or 1980's. Of metal and enamel construction with a nylon ribbon. The medal is of multi-face construction. The center has the illustration of a jet fighter in flight with the blue sky as background. The top of the ribbon has a plaque that reads "First Annual IVV Volkswanderung 1977, Hahn AB Germany". The back of the plaque has a pin used to secure the award to a shirt or coat.

The back of the medal has multiple markings. including the manufacturer's name.
