Korean war US Army Map Case -

Map cases were traditionally issued to officers. They were used in the field when commanding troops.

The item featured in this page is a US Army map case. Of green canvis construction with a clear plastic pocket. The pocket was big enough to allow the map to rest inside partially opened. This was a useful feature because the map remained protected while the officer was able to use it. The case was rolled when stowed away. The plastic turns yellow with age.

The inside of the map has the following information stamped in black ink:

Roll case face out
Do not crease face
by folding sharply
or under pressure.
