US Army HBT Combat Shirt -
This is a combat shirt employed by the US army. Of HBT (Herringbone Twill)construction. The buttons are of metal
construction, painted black and have a 13-star pattern in the facia. These types of buttons were introduced in WWII and
were used until the Korean war. They were rivetted to the uniforms.
Two pocket style where each pocket has a closing flap. The cuffs on the sleeves are adjustable via the use of a button.
The field shirt shown here has two patches above the pockets. One is white with black lettering. This is the name of
the soldier. The other is the "US Army" patch. Black background with gold letters. A tag is found inside the neck which
displays the size of the shirt (38). Additional information such as the manufacturer, contract number and date of
construction was often stamped in black ink on the inside. However, this information is often lost because after several
washes it would fade away.
The uniform shown here is an example of the type used during the Korean war. It shows about the correct amount of wear
and discoloration from a uniform of this time period. Usually the cuffs and upper section of the collar get frayed.
