Korean War - This is a US Air Force Type L-1A flight suit. Very similar in appearance to the Type L-1 which was introduced during WWII (1944). The L-1 flight suit was Green in color. The Type L-1A is Blue.







The Type L1-A flight suit was introduced in 1951 and remained in use until 1953. Of Gabardine construction. A main zipper was located in the center of the main body. The chest had two slanted zippers, one on each side. Each leg had a total of three zippers.

The cuffs have two Blue plastic buttons for the purpose of adjusting the size.

The uniform shown here is an example of the type used during the Korean war.















The waist is adjustable. Three dark Blue buttons are sewn to each side. A strap with a slit on the end is sewn to the back. The position of the buttons adjst the size of the waist.

The bottom of the leg has a zipper on the side which helps tighten up the fit. The front of the leg has a pocket that is secured close with anothe zipper. Each leg has this pocket.





The US Air Force logo is lightly stamped with white paint on the inside of the suit, just below the tag.

Collecting Korean War American Uniforms
