Korean War US Air Force Field Wool Pants -
This is a set of US Air Force (USAF) field wool pants. As used in the early 1950's. Of 100% wool construction. Five pocket design. Three are located in the front. Two on the front side and a small one near the top for holding coins. The additional pockets are found in back. Only the rear pockets have closure flaps. The fly is closed by five brown plastic buttons.

The US Air Force was instituted in 1947. The pattern date for this pair of pants is 1945. They are basically a modified copy of the wool pants used by the army in WWII. It was not until the late 1950's that the Air force design their own set of pants.





The uniform shown here is an example of the type used during the Korean war. The waist has a series of belt loops sewn around the perimeter. The top front is secured by a single brown plastic button. Neither the waist nor the legs are adjustable. A series of buttons is sewn to the inside of the waist. This is where the suspenders attach.

The size of the pants is stamped with black ink on the inside of the waist. The number 55-T-35434-31. An additional number, P34411, is stamped in large font.
