WWII US ARMY MACKINAW 3RD PATTERN (JEEP COAT)

The manickaw coat. Most commonly known as the Jeep coat. It was widely used in the European theater. There were three models manufactured. The one displayed here is the third and last version.

The primary difference between this model and the previous ones is that this one does not have belt loops and a belt. The other ones did. Also, in the third version the collar has notched lapels while the other ones did not.

Of cotton construction with a wool liner. With two lower pockets and two rows of brown plastic buttons.

The lower portion of the inside of the coat was lined with a thin layer of wool. Like many other US uniforms in WWII. A tag was placed inside one of the pockets. This tag contains a wealth of information for the collector. Data such as the date of manufacturing, Material, color, contract number, manufacturer's name, etc are found there.

Normal wear of the coat often times causes the tag to come off or become illegible.
