US Navy Eagle head Sword -
This is a US Navy officer sword. Dating back to the late 1800's. Known as the eagle head sword because of the eagle
head image placed in the pommel section. Manufactured by the Ames company. The handle is made of early White plastic.
A pattern of lines and circles is applied throughout.
The handguard is elegantly shaped. The cross guard is clan shell style. One side has a missing clam shell. One end
has an acorn.
The blade is engraved with Nautical themes and one side has the words "United States Navy".

The scabbard is made of Black leather. The top, center and bottom have Brass fittings. The top and middle fittings
have a suspension ring. The fittings are adorned with nautical themes such as chains and anchors. This example has
a partial scabbard.
The back of the throat displays a scroll with the follwing information engraved: N. P. Ames Cutler Springfield Mass.
