US ARMY GALLANTRY CROSS MEDAL VIETNAM WAR
The Gallantry Cross was authorized by the United States Government in August 15th, 1950. It was later
re-authorized on May 2nd, 1952.
This award was issued to military and civilian personnel who demonstrated valor while engaging the enemy
in the battle field.
The Cross was created in four different classes which are:
- First Class - Cross with palm
- Second Class - Cross with gold star
- Third Class - Cross with silver star
- Fourth Class - Cross with bronze star
The medal has the shape of a cross. Surrounded by a wreath with two swords crossed over the center.
A circle is found in the center of the cross. The front of the circle contains a design. The back
of the circle is left blank.
