Vietnam War Us Armed Forces Flak Vest
A flak jacket or flak vest is a form of protective clothing designed to provide protection from shrapnel and other indirect low velocity projectiles. These vests were not designed to provide protection from bullets.

Flak vests were widely distributed among American troops in Vietnam. The design consisted of heavy nylon construction. The zipper was made of aluminum. It had canvis strips sewn in the area to provide re-inforcement. Two front lower pockets were provided.

Early models had metal plates inserted in the body of the vest. Later models used different types of material.

Two basic versions were constructed. One of them had solid sides. The other style had at least one side put together by heavy duty laces.
