Early 1960's US Army Poplin Tunic - Vietnam War -
This is a standard US Army tunic as used during the Vietnam war. Of poplin
construction with four pocket design. Top two pockets are slanted. This design
made it easier for the soldier to access the contents of the pockets when
carrying a full combat load. Flaps were provided to allow the pockets to be
secured shut.
With hidden green plastic buttons. once the tunic was closed, the buttons would
remain out of view. This feature minimizes the number of snags that could occur
when runing through the jungle and brush.
The tunic retains
the original manufacturer tags. One near the collar and the other behind
one of the lower pockets. These tags contain valuable information for the
collector. It tells the manufacturing date, manufacturer's name, color, material,
etc.
