The Vietnam war saw two main components in terms of weapons. Those introduced by the United states, which were primarily of a
high technology nature, and those introduced by guerrilla forces, which were characterized by their low tech approach.
One of the most notable entries into the war was the M-16 assault rifle. although affected by problems at its introduction,
the rifle proved to be a very good weapon later in the war, and remains the primary infantry weapon during Operation Iraqi
freedom.
