This is a US Army Air Force box for field googles. As issued during World War two. of metal construction.
The instructions are glued to the inside of the lid. It housed the googles that were used by bomber
crews to be able to see .50 cal tracers during the day.

The variable density goggle provides a
goggle for tracking a target in the vicinity of
and across the face of the sun. It is equipped
also with a red plastic visor for observing
tracer bullets under various conditions of
sunlight and brightness. carrying container
contains in addition, two (2) sapre red plastic
visors and one (1) instructions sheet
