WWII German Police 25 Years of Service award -
The police department during Hitler's Germany was technically a civilian organization but served more
as a paramilitary group. It provided the normal duties of a police force but also kept files on groups
and individuals who disagreed with the Third reich and investigated descent in the population.
The medal covered here was issued to police officers in recognition for providing 25 years of service
in the force. The medal was awarded in a case and came with a document.
The design of the medal consisted of a cross pattern, similar to the
Iron Cross award, with a police
eagle in the center. The body of the medal is of gold color. The emblem in the center consists of
an oval shape wreath with an eagle in the middle. The wings of the eagle are fully extended and
its head faces to the left. The eagle is clutching a swastika which in turn is surrounded by a
round wreath. A suspension ring is attached to the top arm of the cross.
The ribbon is a dark blue color. Note that the shape of the medal is embroidered in gold
thread towards the bottom of the blue ribbon.
This is a view of the back of the German Police medal. The words "Fur Treue Dienste In Der Polizei"
are inscribed in an oval shape section. A closer view of the German police medal is shown here.

The box is of green color. The lid has an inscription written in gold characters. The design consists of
a number 25 with a laurel to each side. The lid is hinged on one end. The inside of the lid has a satin
silver type material with some padding. The material covers the hinges so they cannot be seen when the
box is open.
The main body of the box is fitted with cardboard inserts that match the shape of the award. This allows
the medal to rest securely when stowed away.
This badge is currently being
reproduced. It is becoming more difficult to
be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because the quality of the reproductions is improving.
