WWII GERMAN BATTLE SHIELD ANATOMY -

The shield was an award issued to soldiers for participating in certain battles. All branches of the German armed forces employed these awards. There were different types of shields manufactured for different instances. In addition, some of the shields may have color variations to recognize levels of effort.





The center of the badge is designed with symbols of every branch that participated in the campaign.



Additional characteristics of the badge include the word "Narvik" enclosed inside a rectangle. This is where the battles took place. An eagle clutching a wreath with a Swastika inside is placed at the top.
