WWII GERMAN ARMY TROPICAL SUN HAT -
the army was under the umbrella of the Wehrmacht. The army was very active in the North African region. Troops were under the command of Erwin Rommel under the Afrika Korps.

The hot tropical weather encouraged the equipment designers to produce lightweight headgear that would protect the soldiers from the sun. Hence the sun hat/helmet was born.

The deign of the hat consists of a press board and canvis blend. The hat is tan in color. The rim extends 360 degrees in an effort to provide more protection. It is covered with dark leather, which covers the wire structure that gives the helmet the right shape.

The crown displays a device that has four holes to allow for ventilation. A leather chin strap is added. The example shown here comes with a set of rubber goggles.
