WWII GERMAN FIRE FIGHTER HAT
The fire department was established long before the Third Reich came into being. However, when Hitler took over control the Nazi party started changing all the civilian organizations to be more aligned with the party goals.

This is a German WWII hat. As issued to fire department personnel.



The design of the hat consists of a red wool body. with a black felt mid-section. The visor is made of black leather. The mid section has red piping on one side. There is no chin strap. The front of the hat has an eagle and metal circle.

The fire department hat was outfitted with the traditional government services metal eagle. The design consisted of a bronze colored eagle with the wings fully spread. Very nice detailing to the plumeage. Three rows of feathers. The talons are clutching a wreath of oakleaves. A swastika is placed in the center of the wreath. The head of the eagle faces to the left.

The inside of the hat does not have an RZM paper tag. There are remnants of where the clear plastic diamond was sewn in. A brown leather sweatband is present. Very nice stiching pattern is present.



This hat is currently being reproduced. It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because the quality of the reproductions is improving. The collector must become familiarized with the construction style and materials employed in the manufacturing of this hat. Attention to the details is critical in order to be able to determine the authenticity of the headgear.
