WWII GERMAN HAT - FOREST SERVICE DRESS HAT-
Germany has had a long tradition of hunting which takes place in the forest. The government set up an office of forestry to help manage the natural resources. Upon the arrival of the Third Reich, forestry uniforms were outfitted with swastika symbols. This included the dress hat.

The item featured here is a German WWII hat. As issued by the forest service.

The design consists of a green wool body with a high peak. The mid-section was of black color. Green piping was placed all throughout. A black leather bill was incorporated into the design.









A green and yellow cord is provided. Intricate design involving a couple of knots and a woven pattern. The cord is attached to the side of the hat via the use of a metal button. Of light gold color and with a smooth surface.

The front of the hat has a civilian service metal eagle. Consisting of an eagle with the wings fully extended. With three layers of plumeage. The head faces to the left. Great detailing to the beak and feathers. The eagle is clutching a wreath with a swastika in the center. Just below the eagle is the national colors button.

The hat does not have any tags or markings. A diamond shape, clear plastic section is attached to the inside of the hat. This is normally where the manufacturer's name or the owner's name would be found. The headband is made of brown leather.

The inside of the bill shows a checkered pattern and is of brown color. This is the correct design for the hat.
