WWII M43 GERMAN LUFTWAFFE HAT -
The Luftwaffe (derived from the words "Luft"= air and "Waffe"=weapon) is a generic German term for an air force. It is also the official name for two of the four historic German air forces, the Wehrmacht air arm founded in 1933 and disbanded in 1946. The Luftwaffe played a pivital role in the early successes enjoyed in the battlefield. The retreat of the force started after losing the battle of Brittain.

The hat featured here was used by the Luftwaffe in the field.

The deign of the cap consisted of a wool and cotton blend. Blue in color, which was the typical Luftwaffe choice. A neck strap was provided. When not in use it was stowed away by securing it with two buttons in the front of cap.

A cloth white Luftwaffe eagle is sewn to the upper front section. The eagle has its wings fully extended. In is in flight facing to the right. One talon is clutching a swastika while the other is being held up in the air.

The liner for the cap was of a light blue satin construction.
