The design consists of a Maltese cross with crossed swords in the upper arm and a crown placed above the swords. The center of the cross has white enameling with the words "Merenti" written in silver. The center is black and has a lion with a crown on top of it. The back of the medal has the same design but without any enameling.

This item is currently being reproduced. It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because the quality of the reproductions is improving.
