WWI GERMAN SPORTS MEDAL -
The design of this German sports medal is very interesting and complex. The top consists of an eagle with the
wings extended. A multi-color ribbon attaches to that. A silver shield is connected to the bottom of the
ribbon.
The metal section has a wreath in a "U" shape. The figure of a man standing next to a Gymnastics horse and
looking to the side. A rectangular sign is placed under the man and reads "XI Devtsches Tvreest,
Frankfvrt". A date of 1908 is found near the bottom.
The back of the medal shows markings on the eagle. A spring type pin holds the medal to the clothing. The
medal was manufactured in the city of Frankfurt by the E.F. Wisdman company. Big pins are employed to
attach the main metal section to the ribbon.
