WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS RIBBON -
This is a WWI German ribbon. Issued to recipients of the Iron Cross.
The Iron Cross was a military decoration of the Kingdom of Prussia, and later of Germany,
which was established by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia and first awarded on 10 March 1813
in Breslau.
The advantage of utilizing a ribbon is that the soldier can show the awards he earned without having
to wear the full size award, which can be bulky - specially when more than one has been earned.
