WWI IMERIAL GERMAN IRON CROSS IN BOX
The Iron Cross (German: Eisernes Kreuz ) was a military decoration of the Kingdom of Prussia,
and later of Germany, which was established by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia and first awarded on 10
March 1813 in Breslau. In addition to the Napoleonic Wars, the Iron Cross was awarded during the Franco-German
War, the First World War, and the Second World War.
The item featured here is a WWI Iron Cross First Class in the issue box. Three piece construction. The front is
painted black. It has a crown on the upper arm. The letter "W" in hte center and the date 1914 in the lower
arm.
The back of the cross is silver and plain. A hinged pin is found on one arm. The opposite arm has a catch.
No markings are found.

The box is black and has a bumpy texture. The lid has the outline of an Iron Cross in silver. The front of the
box has a round button. Khaki color lining. An opening in the center allows the pin to sit securely. The
hinges of the box are covered with material.
