WWI GERMAN BLACK WOUND BADGE - This is a WWI German black wound badge. Pop metal construction. Oval shape outlined by a wreath. German helmet placed in the center. two crossed swords placed behind the helmet. Hollowed back. A pin is welded in the upper back section of the badge. A catch is placed in the opposite side to secure the pin shut. Some of the wound badges were maker marked. However, not all of them were.

The same designed was employed during WWII with the exception that a swastika was placed in the center of the helmet.

The badge was issued in three classes. Black, silver and gold.
