Revolution, 1958
To commemorate the 14 July 1958 revolution in which
the monarchy was overthrown by the "Free Officers" of
the Iraqi army. The royal family and many of their
supporters were executed, and all power was placed in
a revolutionary council under the leadership of
Brigadier Abd al-Karim Qasim and Colonel Abd al-Salaam
Arif.
In 1963, Brigadier Qasim would be removed by the
army and the small Iraqi Ba'ath Party. Established:
Law No. 5 of 1964. Made by Huguenin (Le Loche,
Switzerland).
