With a wooden cabinet and aluminum reinforced edges and lid. The handset is also made from aluminum. The cord is cloth insulated. The phone has a hand-crank on the side.

The wiring diagram and instructions can be seen on the inside of the lid. The basic design of the phone was employed by many countries. The reliability tends to be very high. In many cases, these phones still work today.
