The hat consists of a rayon body with red piping, possibly to indicate artillery, a black leather visor is found. A gold color
chin strap composed of braided cord is present. The cord is attached via the use of pebbled buttons. The back of the visor
shows a checkered pattern which was a leftover design from the WWII period. The hat featured here is circa 1960's or 1970's.
The inside of the hat reveals a brown leather sweatband. The crown is lined with black material. A clear plastic diamond is
sewn to the center. It shows a logo and the words "Litto kappe Wien", the rest of the words are not legible. A paper tag with
the number 57 is located at one end of the diamond. This indicates the size of the hat.
The hat has several insignia applied to it. The peak has a bullion circle with a red and white metal round piece. Below that is
a shield which has a wreath and the figure of an eagle with a tri-color shield in the chest. The entire insignia is placed atop
a red felt piece.
One ineteresting aspect of this hat is that just above the chin strap buttons there is a another insignia which shows the head of a
Griffin on top of a castle wall.
