The handle of this bayonet is made of brass and has a series of ondulating shapes. The handle is held together by two rivets.
The rifle track is found on the spine.
The crossguard has a muzzle ring on one side and a quillon on the other. A serial number is stamped on one side.
The scabbard is made of metal and is chromed. One side has a square bracket which is how the bayonet is attached to the uniform.
The blade is of single edge construction. The spine has a series of words inscribed, including the date of 1872.
The edge weapons from many countries are currently being
reproduced.
It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because
the quality of the reproductions are improving. The collector must become familiarized with
the construction style and materials employed in the manufacturing of these medals.
Attention to the details is critical in order to be able to determine the authenticity of
the collectible.
