This is a Nrwegian Army bayonet. As used during WWII. The handle is made of wood and is held together by one rivet. A metal spine
goes from the crossguard to the top and converts into the pommel. The release mechanism is found in the front of the handle.
The crossguard is very small. It does not protrude much. The scabbard and crossguard are numbered but do not match. The scabbard
is of metal construction. A stude come out of one side and locks the bayonet in place when stowed away. It appears that there may
have been a stud that was ground off on one side of the scabbard.
The blade is of single edge. a marking is found on one side. A blood groove is present and extends most of the length of the blade.
The edge weapons from many countries are currently being
reproduced.
It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because
the quality of the reproductions are improving. The collector must become familiarized with
the construction style and materials employed in the manufacturing of these medals.
Attention to the details is critical in order to be able to determine the authenticity of
the collectible.
