The Spanish army bayonet consists of a wooden handle with a checkered pattern. The pommel is metal and has the release button on
one side. Two screws secure the handle in place. The cross guard is very small. One side has the muzzle ring. The example
featired here does not have a scabbard.
The overall length of the bayonet is 21 inches. The blade is stamped at the base with a serial number. It is of single edge design.
The words "Artilleria Nacional" are stamped, this indicates the bayonet belonged to a field artillery unit.
The edge weapons from many countries are currently being
reproduced.
It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because
the quality of the reproductions are improving. The collector must become familiarized with
the construction style and materials employed in the manufacturing of these medals.
Attention to the details is critical in order to be able to determine the authenticity of
the collectible.
