The handle is made of weood and held together by two rivets. The pommel is metal and rounded. The release button is found on the side
of the pommel. The crossguard is not ver large but it is fairly thick. A serial number has been stamped on the side of the crossguard.
This bayonet was issued to Turkish army soldiers during WWII.
The blade is of single edge design. a blood groove is present and extends close to the entire length of the blade. The scabbard is
made of metal. All the finish has been taken off revealing the bear metal. A mushroom type stud is attached near the throat.
This device is used to attach the leather frog so the weapon can be carried on a belt. The tip is a finial.
The edge weapons from many countries are currently being
reproduced.
It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because
the quality of the reproductions are improving. The collector must become familiarized with
the construction style and materials employed in the manufacturing of these medals.
Attention to the details is critical in order to be able to determine the authenticity of
the collectible.
