THE WWII GERMAN WAR MERIT CROSS - The war merit cross was a civilian award issued to the general population in Germany during WWII. The award was given to individuals who contributed to the war effort. There are two basic formats for the award.

Issued for indirect assistance to the war effort
Issued for helping directly with the war effort.

WWII GERMAN WAR MERIT MEDAL - 1 This cross was issued to both, civilians and military personnel. The cross hang from a three color ribbon.	WWII GERMAN WAR MERIT 1st CLASS - 2 Of silver color. Metal construction. This was a higher award than the Second Class. Pin-back construction.	GERMAN WWII WAR MERIT CROSS 1st CLASS WITH SWORDS - 3 Silver color with pebbling inside each of the arms. The award had a pin in the back as opposed to a ribbon.	WWII GERMAN WAR MERIT CROSS 2nd CLASS WITH SWORDS - 4 The award comes with a tri-color ribbon. The design consists of a Maltese cross with swords across it.

WAR MERIT CROSS 2nd CLASS WITHOUT SWORDS - 5 Consisting od a Maltese cross with a swastika in the center. The award was issued during World War Two.	BRONZE WAR MERIT CROSS WITH SWORDS 2nd CLASS - 6 Instituted on October 18th 1939. The design consists of a Maltese cross with swords inserted at an angle.	GERMAN BRONZE WAR MERIT CROSS 2nd CLASS - 7 Instituted on October 18th 1939. Consisting of a Maltese cross with a tri-color ribbon on top.	WAR MERIT CROSS WITH SWORDS 2nd CLASS - 8 As issued during WWII to German soldiers and civilian personnel. The award consists of a cross with swords placed at an angle.

GERMAN WAR MERIT CROSS SECOND CLASS - 9 As issued during WWII. Bronze color Maltese cross with a wreath in the center. A swastika is placed inside the wreath.	WWII GERMAN WAR MERIT MEDAL 2ND CLASS - 10 This is the medal with the hanging ribbon and the chest ribbon. The medal was issued in the paper bag that is pictured here.	WWII GERMAN 1st CLASS WAR MERIT CROSS - 11 Silver color. Metal construction in the shape of a Maltese cross with swords in the quadrants. Pin-back construction. Complete with issue box.	WAR MERIT CROSS - 12 This is a War Merit Cross manufactired by the JFS company. The company's logo is placed in the back.

WAR MERIT CROSS FIRST CLASS WITH CASE - 13 This is a War Merit Cross complete with the issue box. Black felt interior with a cut-out to accomodate the pin.	WAR MERIT CROSS FIRST CLASS - 14 This is a War Merit Cross First Class. Not marked. The pin is the thick type. It is attached to a barrel hinge.
