Japanese Army Training Bayonet -
This is a Japanese WWII Arisaka bayonet. It was employed by the Japanese armed forces as a training prop. The edge was not sharpened. This would reduce the chances of a recruit getting cut during practice.

Of wooden handle construction. Metal scabbard. The size of bayonet is identical to the regulation one.

The Japanese soldier trained heavily on hand to hand combat. This was part of the tradition of the Samurai warrior.

Many of these bayonets were melted in the later years of the war due to the metal shortage in Japan. That is one of the reasons why these items are hard to find.
