Vietcong Flag - Vietnam War -
This is a typical hand-made Viet-Cong flag. These items were captured by GI's
from prisoners or jungle camps. This example shows some staining and a small
cigarrete burn.
Like most of the Viet Cong items, the construction very rudimentary and of very poor quality. Many replicas are
being produced. It is very difficult to distinguish the original ones from the replicas because
the same type of material and construction techniques are used today.
Vietnamese military items in general are currently being
reproduced.
It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because
the quality of the reproductions is improving. The collector must become familiarized with
the construction style and materials employed in the manufacturing of this headgear.
Attention to the details is critical in order to be able to determine the authenticity of
the collectible.
