1945 WWII US Army Field Overcoat -
The heavy wool overcoat was ditributed all over the European front where the weather was very
cold. The overcoat was used by soldiers in the field during combat. The heavy
wool construction
served the GI's fairly well. The design of the coat consisted of two front pockets, brass
buttons painted brown with
the army eagle displayed predomenantly. A
tag
containing various data regarding regarding the item was sewn inside one of the pockets.
The breast area and sleeves of the overcoat could have been complimented with
patches. However,
insignia was not commonly worn with
this item.
One of the pockets has a manufacturer's tag. It is of white color with black letters. It contains
the following information:

The jacket had a built in belt. The back of the jacket could be adjusted to fit different waist
sizes by changing the position of the belt using two buttons to hold the adjustment in place.
