IMPERIAL GERMAN HUNTING CUTLAS
This is an Imperial German hunting cutlas. Edge weapons like this one were given to members of hunting clubs as
a sign of pride and accomplishment. These items were not intended for use in combat. These type of blades
were very ornate. As can be seen by the example featured here.
The handle is made of stag. Three metal acorns are placed in a line. The pommel is round and also capped with
a metal device. The crossguard is in an "S" format, metal sections in the shape of animal huffs. A clamshell
is protruding in the front.
The blade is very ornate. Both sides are decorated with a series of hunting and forest scenes. A double mark
WKC stamp is seen in the throat section. This is an indication of an older blade.
