Korean War US Army M-1951 Field Jacket -
This is a US Army field jacket. As issued during the Korean war. Type M-1951.
Of canvis construction. Complete with a heavy duty liner.
Four pocket style. Two upper and two lower. They are covered by a canvis flap. the front is secured
shut by using a brass zipper. large, plastic brown buttons are also provided as a means to close the
jacket. A storm flap hides the zipper and the buttons.
The jacket has two draw strings. One is placed at the waist level and the other is in the bottom section.
This jacket does not have any patches. However, it was common for soldiers to place the rank and unit
patch in the arms. Sometimes the rank was sewn in as well.

Two plastic Brown buttons are placed near the neck area. They are used for the purpose of attaching the M-1951 hood.
The snap buttons and zipper are shown here.
The jacket has information stamped with black ink in two different places in the inside. over time
and with regular wear, the information becomes difficult to read.
One of the stamps reads as follows:

Chest from 37 to 41 inches
Height from 67 to 71 inches

the second stamping contains information regarding the use of the jacket. most of the concepts are very
basic and common sense. However, the manufacturer still required to print it.

1. Wear as the outer garment cold-wet climates and the intermediate garment
in cold-dry climates.
2. Wear alone in mild weather
3. For cold weather. Button in liner-jacket. Field. M-1951
4. Tighten waist and skirt drawstrings and sleeve closures for
warmth-loosen to ventilate. Avoid overheating to prevent
chilling after exercise.
