GERMAN WWI IMPERIAL MEDALS -
The German Empire is the name commonly used in English to describe Germany from the unification of Germany and proclamation of Wilhelm I as German Emperor on 18 January 1871 to 1918, when it became a German republic after defeat in World War I and the abdication of Wilhelm II (28 November 1918).

IMPERIAL GERMANY MEDAL - This German WWI medal consists of ann orange cross with a crown at the end of each arm. The letters AWRV are written on each section formed by the cross.


IMPERIAL GERMANY MEDAL - Of silver color. The ribbon is missing. The design consists of a crown with multiple gothic characters found just below it.


WWI GERMAN FIRE FIGHTING MEDAL - Round medal with a red ribbon with two black stripes runing close to the center. The medal shows a fire fighter helmet with a crossed axe and pick.


WWI GERMAN SPORTS MEDAL - This is a very interesting sports medal. The design features a man standing with his hand on a ball. Complete with a ribbon and an eagle shape suspension.

GERMAN WWI IRON CROSS

The Iron Cross was a military decoration of the Kingdom of Prussia, and later of Germany, which was established by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia and first awarded on 10 March 1813 in Breslau, during the Napoleonic Wars. The Iron Cross was also awarded during the Franco-German War, the First World War, and the Second World War.


WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN IRON CROSS 1st CLASS WITH BOX- This is a three piece construction Iron Cross. The back is silver ans has a pin hinged on one arm. A catch is found on the opposite side. Includes the box.


WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN IRON CROSS 2nd CLASS- Of three piece construction. The front and back are painted black. The front has a letter "W" in the center. The date 1914 is found on the bottom.


WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN PARADE MOUNTED IRON CROSS - This is an Iron Cross second class in parade mounting. Three piece construction with a letter "W" in the center. The back has black velvet material.


WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN IRON AND HINDENBURG CROSSES- The crosses featured here are mounted in a parade ribbon. very lavish design. The back has green wool and a brass pin hinged on one end.




WWI GERMAN MEDAL RIBBON BAR - Mounted in a parade setting. The medal bar consists of an Iron Cross second class and a WWII Hindenburg Cross, which is missing.


WWI GERMAN SECOND CLASS IRON CROSS - Of metal construction. Three different pieces are sandwhiched together. A ring is attached to the top arm.


WWI GERMAN FIRST CLASS IRON CROSS - Pin back construction with a vaulted type body. The front has a letter "W" with a crown above.


WWI GERMAN MEDAL BAR - This is a medal bar mounted in parade style. The bar has a second class Iron Cross and a WWII Hindenburg Cross.




WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS 2nd CLASS - This is the most basic type of Iron Cross. Complete with a black ribbon with two white stripes along the sides.


WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS SECOND CLASS - Mounted in a beautiful parade setting with a triangular shape ribbon. The letter "W" is found in the front.


WWI GERMAN NON-COMBATANT IRON CROSS - This Iron Cross has a white ribbon with black stripes at each side. This color scheme is inverted from the normal award.


WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS GROUPING - This is a set consisting of an Iron Cross and a Hindeburg Cross mounted in a parade style.

GERMAN WWI MILITARY RIBBONS AND OTHER ITEMS

The Germans issued a series of ribbons and small pins to their troops for a variety of reasons. The ribbons were normally issued along side a medal. The ribbonn could be worn instead of the medal so the soldier was not incumbered by a larger, heavier medal at any function he attended. Ribbions were also issued on their own, as a means to recognize a group to which the soldier belonged.


WWI GERMAN FIELD ARTILLERY RIBBON - This is a rectangular ribbon decorated with multi-color stripes. A metal plate is placed in the front and reads "K.BAYR.10.FELD.ARTR"


IMPERIAL GERMANY RIBBON - This is an interesting ribbon. The construction consists of a light blue cloth backing with small white stripes on the top and bottom. A metal wreath is placed in the front.


IMPERIAL GERMANY 15 YEAR FIRE FIGHTER SERVICE RIBBON - Rectangular shape ribbon with a light blue background with multiple white stripes across it. A fairly large metal device is placed in the front.


WWI GERMAN VETERAN RIBBON - This is a smaller ribbon which is enclosed in a metal frame.The background is dark blue and has yellow characters in the center.




WWI GERMAN VETERAN METAL BOW - The design consists of an oval wreath with a crown on top. The wreath is placed at the center of a bow. Writing is seen in every section of the bow.


WWI GERMAN MUSICIAN 10 YEAR SERVICE METAL BOW - The shape of this pin consists of a musical instrument with the number 10 in the center. It is placed at the center of a bow.


WWI GERMAN MUSICIAN 25 YEAR SERVICE METAL BOW - The shape of this pin consists of a musical instrument with the number 25 in the center. It is placed at the center of a bow.


WWI GERMAN ARMED FORCES MEDAL RIBBON - The design consists of cloth covering a metal rectangle. A pin back is hinged on the back. The front shows a Black Wound badge and Hindenburg Cross devices.




WWI GERMAN ARMY MEDAL RIBBON - A set of two ribbons attached to a metal bar. One ribbon is for the Iron Cross Second Class. The other ribbon is for the Hindenburg Cross and has a crossed swords metal device.


WWI GERMAN ARMY MEDAL PARADE RIBBON - This is a set of of three ribbons beautifully arranged in a parade setting. Onbe of the ribbons has three metal rectangular devices and a set of crossed swords.


WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS MEDAL RIBBON - Consisting of a black ribbon with two white stripes. Attached to a metal rectangular section with a single pin on the back. An Iron Cross metal device is attached to the front.


WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS RIBBON - This is ribbon for the Iron Cross and another medal. High quality construction with blue felt clothing in the back. Heavy duty hinged pin.

WWI GERMAN GOLD WOUND BADGE - This is the highest level for the wound badge. The construction of the badge consisted of a semi-hollowed body. A vertical pin hinged at one end and was secured at a catch.


WWI GERMAN BLACK WOUND BADGE - Of metal construction. This award was stamped and had a hollowed back. A vertical pin is provided to attach the badge to the uniform. The black designation was the lowest level.


WWI GERMAN GOLD WOUND BADGE - This is highest grade of wound badge available. It was issued to individuals who received 5 or more wounds in the battlefield.


WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS METAL PLAQUE - This is a thin metal plaque in the shape of an Iron Cross. each arm has two holes, which indicate the plaque was attached to something like a photo album cover.




WWI GERMAN THEATER MADE BROOCHE - This is an example of some of the jewelry that was created from common objects during WWI in Germany. Three coins have been soldered together to make a brooche.


WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS PENDANT - This is pewter casted Iron Cross. Designed in the same manner as the military version except that this one is meant to be worn as a pendant.


WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS PLAQUE - This is a thin metal plaque in the shape of an Iron Cross. some of these devices were applied on photo album covers.


WWI GERMAN MEDALLION - This is a medallion in the shape of an Iron Cross with connectors between the arms.




WWI GERMAN MEDAL - This is a WWI medal. The ribbon is missing.


WWI GERMAN HINDENBURG MEDAL - This is a medal with a Hindenburg cross in the center. The hanging loop is missing.


WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS ALBUM COVER ORNAMENT - This is a flat Iron Cross. Of metal construction. The piece was glued to the front cover of a photo album.
