OTHER MILITARY COLLECTIBLES


The british nation as well as other nations on the worls have played a key role in the history of warfare for many years. in such a role various countries had to develop and improve a variety of helmets, uniforms, field gear and other equipment to help protect their soldiers while in battle.

Tanks and aircraft were used heavily durign WWII. While these machines were not new, this was the first time that they were heavily used in battle. New headgear had to be created to protect the occupants of the new machines. Tanker and pilot helmets make some of the most interesting types of headgear ever developed.

HEADGEAR
Hats and helmets make a evry interesing field of collectibles. The variety developed by the different armies of the world is truly staggering. The materials vary from coumtry to country but the end game is the same; to protect the soldier or to make the soldier stand out. This section of the site is dedicated to the headgear of the world.

1950's AUSTRIAN ARMY HAT - This is a high quality hat. Very ornate. A shield bearing an eagle is found in the front. An eagle head is found to each side. Complete with rope chin strap.

1950's ITALIAN HELMET - Of metal construction with a leather liner. Protruding ventilation rivets. Complete with the chin strap.

1990 HUNGARIAN POLICE HAT - Of wool construction. main body is dark blue. Light blue piping covers the upper perimeter. A large light blue stripe is applied to the mid-body. National colors metal badge in front.

1950's ITALIAN HAT - Of metal construction. Known as the Adrian helmet. A comb is placed on top. Complete with the leather liner and brown chin strap. The front emblem is missing.



WWII ITALIAN MUSSOLINI GUARD HELMET - Of metal construction. The liner is missing. A bumper pad in the rear of the helmet is present. The sticker of a large Italian eagle is in the front.

1960's RUSSIAN ARMY HELMET - Of metal construction with light green paint. Complete with the leather chin strap and liner.


WWII SWEEDISH ARMY HELMET - light gray color with a sticker of three crowns on each side. The liner is made of leather and is composed of three different pads. A leather chin strap is included.

1960's SWEEDISH ARMY HELMET - light gray color with a built-in canvis liner which is riveted to the main body at multiple points. The sweatband is made of Khaki color leather.




WWI SPANISH ARMY HELMET - This is a helmet used by the Spanish army during WWI. The liner is missing but it would have been made of leather. Complete with bolts on side of head.


WWI FRENCH ARMY HELMET - This is a French WWII helmet. Disticntive characteristic is the comb on top. Leather liner and chin strap.


WWII BULGARIAN ARMY HELMET - This is a Bulgarian army helmet. As issued during WWII. Complete with ventilation rivets on the side.





MILITARY FIELD GEAR

This section of the website covers the different types of equipment employed by different armies around the world. Items covered include flashlights, compasses, holsters and items of this nature. WWII BRITISH COMMONWEALTH AUSTRALIA BANDAGE - This is one of the most common first aid items used during the war. The bandage is enclosed in a light cotton cover with instructions in front.

1950'S SPANISH COMBAT LOAD BEARING SUSPENDERS - Of leather construction. Complete with bayonet, canteen and miscallaneous pouches. High quality construction and very nicely marked.

1950's SWISS ARMY FLASHLIGHT - This is a very interesting design. Rectangular in shape. All metal construction with the lightbulb near the top and sliding switch just below.

1950's ITALIAN ARMY FIELD PACK - This is the smaller version of the backpack. Od canvis construction with leather belt loops secured to the back. Leather straps secure the pack closed.



1941 AUSTRALIAN ARMY COMPASS - Sturdy metal body. Round in shape with a hinge on one side that opens the compass in two. A brass loop is placed at one end so a lanyard can go through.

1950's BELGIUM ARMY HOLSTER - Of leather construction with a triangular closing flap. A brass diamond shape section is placed at the end of teh flap to secure the holster shut. Room for two spare magazines.

1920'S PRIVATE PURCHASE COMPASS - Round shape with a metal base and glass front. A loop is placed at the top to enable the person to carry the compass as a pocket watch.

WWII ITALIAN CARCANO AMMO - This is a WWII ammo box. Information is printed on the front of the box using black ink. The box is of strong cardboard with a cloth pull strap stapled to the lid.



1960's EAST GERMAN AIR FORCE HAT BADGE - Of metal construction with four pins in the back to allow securing to hat. A wreath with a set of spread wings in the center.

1950's SWISS ARMY PARADE HOLSTER - A very interesting leather holster. White in color. Markings are stamped on the back of the main body which include the figure of a cross. Chromed "D" rings.

WWII SPANISH ARMY BELT BUCKLE AND ARM PATCH - The buckle is rectangular in shape and displays the Spanish eagle in relief. Gold color. The patch is of wool construction and shows the same motiff.

EARLY 1900's FRENCH ARMY BINOCULARS - Of metal construction with a leather cover in the main body. The words Armee and Marine are written in the posts. Complete with the leather carrying case.



WWII FRENCH ARMY MACHINE GUN AMMO CASE - This is the leather case for carrying the magazines for a ffrench machine gun. Complete with brass fittings.


WWII UNKNOWN CANISTER - This is a brass canister with the wooden shipping container. High quality construction. Bot sure for what application this was made.


WWII UNKNOWN GRANADE - This is a WWI or WWII fragmentation grenade. Complete with the fuze and spoon assembly. Not sure for which country.



INSIGNIA AND MEDALS
The armies of the world have designed a series of devices that are attached to the uniform as a means to show rank in a group or recognize the effort associated with a task. The insignia help identify the group to which a soldier belongs. while medals are an indication of achievement. This section of the page takes a look at some of the awards of the world's armies.

LATE 1950's GERMAN INFANTRY SHOOTING BADGE - A round wreath made of metal with a machine gun placed in the center. Writting is found along the bottom. Issued in recognition of proficiency.

WWII POLISH CIRCUS PROGRAM BADGE - Metal construction with enamel in front. Round shape with a mounted horse in the center. The words Cyrk Polski are written on top. Screw back type.

1950's BRITISH ARMY BERET INSIGNIA - A metal round insignia with the words "Argyll and Sutherland" writte around a decorative letter X. A crown tops the design.

WWII SPANISH ARMY HELMET EAGLE - This is a metal pin with tabs in the back. It was attached to the front of the Spanish helmet during WWII. The pin has the spanish eagle at the center.



1865 AUSTRIAN MEDAL - complete with the red ribbon which has two orange and one black stripe runing down the middle. A bow shape hanger is attached to the ribbon. The medal shows the dates 1865 and 1905.

WWI AUSTRIAN MEDAL - The medal itself is round in shape. One side has a mounted horse by a man without clothes and holding a sword. The other side shows the profile of a person.

WWII ASIAN MEDAL This is an Asian medal. Possibly Korean. Complete with the ribbon and hanging assembly.


1939 WWII DEFENSE OF SLOVAKIA MEDAL This is a Czech army medal. Complete with the ribbon and hanging assembly.



MILITARY UNIFORMS
The armed forces of the world developed a series of military uniforms that showed a great variety in design and material. Every country developed the uniforms to fit their specific geographical need. This section of the website is dedicated to illustrate some of the interesting uniforms of the world.


WWII AUSTRALIAN ARMY TUNIC - Four pocket construction. Made of wool. dated 1940. Complete with the overseas hat which has an Australian device. The shoulder boards display "Australia" metal insignia.

WWII SWISS ARMY PANTS - Dated 1942. Heavy duty wool construction. Ideal for extreme cold weather. Three crown stamp has been applied to the back of the rear pocket.

1958 BRITISHG ARMY TUNIC - Ike style with two front pockets. Heavy duty wool construction. Rank patches placed in arms. The buttons are brass colored and domed shape. Nicely marked.

1980's SLOVANIAN ARMY UNIFORM - Tunic and pants made of partial wool. Buttons are stamped tin and display a five pointed star. Retains two tags.
